About this deal

They cut her down that evening. Riden carries her to his room. He treats her wounds and apologizes. They mouth each other for serving the men they do. He says he has a good reason for serving Draxen as he does. He asks Alosa to not be so stubborn so he can try to protect her. She spends another night sleeping beside him. But, oh well, these are small complaints. Daughter of the Pirate King is an enjoyable start to this intriguing series. I will probably continue on with the duology, mostly because I want to visit the home of the sirens. I think a young Meg would have enjoyed this a bit more. The last man in my path throws down his sword. “I surrender,” he says. I hit him on the head with the pommel of my sword. He crumples in a heap at my feet. There are several twists and turns to the story! You think it's just about Alosa finding a map piece for her father? Nope! I can't say more because of spoilers, but we learn key things about Alosa, and another pirate lord, and Riden and Draxen, as the story progresses.

Every time men said something sexist she silenced them in a few seconds with an awesome response or act. I have twenty-eight excellent girls aboard this ship, and their pasts have shaped them. Just as yours has shaped you. And every single one of them, down to little Roslyn, deserves your respect.”

How did Daughter of the Pirate King end?

First, can we talk about how refreshing it was to have a female character that wasn't all afraid to kill someone? I'm honestly tired of characters saying they are "assassins" even though they never kill anyone. Alosa was not like that. When she killed those men without flinching I was like DANG GIRL. I LIKE YOU. Ha-ha, now in real life please realize I would not react this way if I saw a murder taking place - but because this was a book character, I loved it. Holding my knife against a sleeping Vordan’s throat fills me with the sweetest feeling of justice. I move my free hand to cover his mouth. Hold the line, I command. They rotate instantly, turning their swords on their own men. To my girls, I shout, “Unload the extra gunpowder for your pistols onto the stairs.” There is also a romance subplot in this series, which I do really like!! 🤩🤩 in the first book, it felt very fun and there was a lot of banter, but there was a little more depth to it in here 🥰 I do really like riden and alosa as a couple 💗💗 HOWEVER, they kept inventing reasons to not be together and had SO MANY arguments & that did get quite annoying 🙈

On a beautiful and sunny day, there was a girl sit on a bench. Her best friend who walked by saw her and she approached her to say hi I can’t help myself. I laugh. Does he think he can make a reputation for himself by telling everyone how fearsome he is? Many start to move, heeding their captain’s call, but one man shouts, “No, look behind him! It’s the siren bitch!” And, most importantly, do you like your books uplifting, of the put-a-huge-grin-on-your-face variety? I expand the song, placing two more of Vordan’s men under my spell, then send them in front of us to battle the oncoming men.

The romance was so forced, I hated it even more that I hated the characters. Alosa somehow barely knows Riden, but from the moment she met him, she was already in love *done with everything* I slide down the street, keeping close to the roughly constructed townhome on my right. The city is asleep at this hour. I haven’t spotted a soul moving about, save Vordan’s men on watch.
